The Australian Federal Government and State Governments provide a range of grants and funding options that are available to eligible businesses. These grants are to help businesses overcome the impact of the COVID-19 restrictions and to help kick-start and continue to grow their business.

Small Business Fees and Charges Rebate (NSW)

NSW Government (Open)

As part of the NSW Government’s COVID-19 stimulus and recovery plan, small businesses, sole traders and not-for-profit organisations may apply for a rebate worth $1,500 to help pay for government fees and charges. (Available until June 30th 2022)

Export Assistance Grant (NSW)

NSW Government (Closes December 31 2021)

The NSW Government is launching a range of support measures for NSW businesses at each stage of their export journey. The package includes a range of financial ($10,000) and non-financial assistance, export capability-building and tailored engagement with our trade professionals in NSW and overseas.

Grant Covers:
• The Export Assistance Grant program will help NSW businesses recover from drought, bushfires and COVID-19 by providing co-funding to identify and access new export markets and re-enter previous export markets.
• Grants of up to $10,000 per eligible business will support up to 1,000 NSW eligible businesses
• Matched on a dollar-for-dollar basis, funding will centre on export marketing and development activities, such as market research, participation in international tradeshows and trade missions, inbound business support, e-commerce development and marketing materials.

Arts and Culture Restart Grant (NSW)

NSW Government (Opening Soon)

Artists, musicians, theatres, venues, festivals and cultural organisations in NSW will be supported with $86 million in funding from the NSW Government to reopen with confidence and welcome back audiences.

Social Enterprise Grant (Vic)

City of Melbourne (Closes January 14 2022)

This program will support start-ups and existing enterprises which are expanding or developing new products or services.

Up to $10,000 grant funding per enterprise is up for grabs and additional support will be available, including access to temporary space for pop-ups, plus mentoring and capability building opportunities. Grant is available to businesses offering services within the City of Melbourne.

Business Cost Assistance Round Five (VIC)

Victoria Government (Open)

Commercial Tenancy Relief Scheme

The Scheme helps small and medium-sized businesses with an annual turnover of less than $50 million that have experienced a fall in turnover of more than 30 per cent during the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

Export Recovery Package (VIC)

Victoria Government (Open)

$4.7 Million Global Victoria Trade Alliance program aims to help Victorian exporters adapt their export/trade strategies to respond to the rapidily changing global trade markets.

Small Business Digital Champions (Aust Gov)

Australian Government (closed)

Small Business Digital Champions provided 100 small businesses with support for a comprehensive digital transformation of their business.

Grant Covers:
• Hardware
• Software
• Online content development
• Digital training.

This grant is closed to applications. Showcasing of the digital transformation from participating businesses will be completed via the case studies.

 

Entrepreneur Matched Funds Growth Program (Aust Gov)

Australian Government (Open)

Funding of between $2500 (ex GST) and $20,000 (ex GST), covering up to 50% of eligible project costs.  Applicable to businesses who have received one of the Entrepreneur Growth services, you can apply for a Growth Grant. With the grant, you can engage external expertise to implement the recommendations in your Growth roadmap or plan.

Modern Manufacturing Initative (Aust Gov)

Australian Government (Open)

The Manufacturing Integration Stream supports projects that integrate Australian businesses into domestic and international value chains, propelling their goods and services into new markets. It provides co-funding to encourage linkages between local businesses and domestic and international firms, increasing scale, supply capacity, and the ability to innovate. It will also facilitate the adoption of product standards and greater sharing and transfer of knowledge.

Applicable Industry Sectors: Space, Medical, Food & beverage, Resources, Defence, Recycling, and Clean Energy.

Export Market Development Grant EMDG (Austrade)

Australian Government (Closed November 30 2021)

Grants are available in 3 Tier Stages. Each tier provides a different level of support for SMEs as they grow their export markets. The lengths of these grants reflect the different stages of an exporter’s journey.

Grant Covers:
• Overseas representation expenses
• Marketing consultant expenses
• Free samples expenses
• Trade fairs, seminars, in-store promotions expenses
• Promotional literature and advertising expenses
• Overseas buyers expenses
• Registration and/or insurance of eligible intellectual property expenses.

Training and Education Course Contribution (AIM)

Australian Institute of Management (Open)

In order to support the development of Australia’s workforce long term, AIM has launched the COVID Stimulus Fund. This fund can be used by eligible students and organisations to:

Apply a contribution towards tuition fees for AIM Vocational Qualifications capped at:

$3,200 for online Diplomas
$2,000 for online Certificate IVs

Provide an additional 2 training seats at no cost to organisations who book in 3 or more employees to an AIM short course
